Adorable Vintage Campers

Vintage Campers are making a huge comeback.  I've been seeing them all over the wedding circuit, in photoshoots, or for "glamping" (glamorous camping - genius!).  There are so many ways to restore them.  But time and time I'm seeing them in new retro, vintage, shabby chic, and a vintage modern.  I love the traveling cupcake one - what a great wedding display idea.  Or how about a makeup and hair camper to take on location?  I am developing a huge crush on these adorable little spaces!  Here are some inspiring restorations just for some Saturday fun...

It's my dream to someday run and operate my own salon.  So I am always looking for ideas to help paint the picture in my head, what it is I want to do.  Here are some insanely gorgeous and ultra girly salons for your enjoyment:)

Celebrity Makeup Crush - Kim Kardashian

Say what you will about Kim Kardashian, but her makeup is always flawless.  Everytime she hits the red carpet she looks spot on.  Kim rocks the soft smokey eye with nude lips.  But when she comes out with a pop of color on her lips, she looks amazing too.  Scroll down for some fun makeup facts about Kim K.

Kim Kardashian Kim Kardashian arrives at QVC Red Carpet Style Party on February 25, 2011 in Los Angeles, California.

Kim Kardashian and her makeup....

1. She adores makeup.  Kim has said on camera that if she wasn't doing what she is doing now, she would be a Makeup Artist.  You can often find makeup tips and the products she used on her photoshoots and red carpet events at www.kimkardashian.celebuzz.com
2. She uses Red Cherry 100% Human Hair Lashes and especially uses individual lashes instead of strip.
3. Her preferred Makeup Artists are Joyce Bonelli & Mario Dedivanovic.
4. Fav nude lip colors are MAC's Cherish and Creme d' Nude, and Nars Turkish Delight gloss used with MAC Subculture lip pencil.
5. Highlights with Eye M Glam highlighter and MAC's Naked Pigment.
6. Uses a lot of MAC Cosmetics, in addition to, Motives Cosmetics; created by her friend Lauren Ridinger, Makeup Forever, Smashbox, Nars and Chanel.
7. She's done makeup tutorials with a few of her favorite artists.  Check it out by going to YouTube and typing in her name.
8. For foundation she favors Make Up Forever HD Foundation, one of my personal favorites too!
9. She has admitted on Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM Show recently that she uses her glam as a "security blanket" and that she would like to tone it down.
10. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara is her must have mascara, and mine too.

Inspiration Board - Peacock Feathered Lashes

Inspiration boards are essential to the photoshoot.  It helps you to get a clear picture of the kind of work you would like to do and how you would put your own creative touch to the makeup.  For this photoshoot I had these great peacock feathered lashes that I wanted to incorporate.  Part of getting my inspiration board together I researched peacocks and their true colorings and markings placement.  And I got inspired by other artists work.  Once I got my idea clearly, I put together an inspiration board like this one to hang up on the mirror or wall where my station was set up at.  Any time I got stuck, I could quickly reference my board to get me back on track.

This is what I came up with....
www.michellekinkaidmakeup.com

As you can see, my work looks nothing like the pictures above.  It's my own creation.  But the pictures helped me to stay inspired and keep me moving.

Feel free to use the board above to make your own version of a peacock inspired makeup look.  If you do, post your efforts in the comments!  I would love to see what you came up with!  It's amazing to me how one idea can turn into so many unique versions.

Inspiring Makeup Artists - Alex Box

Alex, working
Makeup Artist Alex Box, is one of my favorite true "artists".  She used to be a Lead Makeup Artist for MAC Cosmetics and is now the Creative Director behind the new brand Illamasqua.  If you haven't heard of Alex or Illamasqua, I recommend you Google them now.  Everything she creates is amazing.  She uses clean lines, fabulous colors and her work is always interesting.  She has so much awe inspiring work that it was hard to narrow it down to just a few.  If this doesn't make you inspired, I don't know what will!
