St. Patty's Day Inspired Makeup

In the spirit of St. Patty's day I thought I would create a look for you in all it's green glory!  It's about the only time of year that truly you can make it work.  So you should go for it.  Dress up this look for a party with green glitter or sparkles on your face.  Everything for this look can be found at your local mall or at Ulta. 

To get the look.....
Eyes:
1.From the NYX Runway Collection in Secret World use the lightest green all over the lid, really patting in the color for the most saturation.
2. Take the other green from the same collection and put that in your crease and outer corner of the eye with a blending brush.  Softy blend up towards the brown bone.
3.To deepen the crease I used MAC Cosmetics Humid in the outer V and brought slightly into the crease.
4. Blend sharp edges with a clean blending brush.
5. Use the soft beige color in the collection on the brow bone.
6. Line heavily with a dark green pencil liner.  I used MAC eyeliner in Tarnish on the top and in the waterline.  Black will do the trick too.
7.Bring the Humid shadow in the lower lash line on the outer part and use the light green color you used on the lid to the lower lash line around the tear duct area. 
8. Finish with Red Cherry #41 lashes and mascara.

Cheeks:
MAC blush in Dainty

Lips:
MAC Shy Girl lipstick and Subculture lipliner.

Spring Trends - Metal Eyes and Bright Lips

One of my favorite trends for Spring is a carry over from the Fall.  But this version is a brighter "springier"version.  Combine neutral toned metal colors and finishes with a bright bold lip.  The hot lip colors for Spring are berries, corals and pinks.  But really you can't go wrong with any bright color right now!  Eyeshadows are just what it says - Metals.  Think bronze, copper, gold etc.  And the finish should be a subtle shimmer just like a precious metal would be when polished.  Pigments will have the best payoff for this effect.  Play down the cheeks with a coordinating hue for the lips but think on a more neutral and light version of the lip.  Black or dark brown eyeliner pair up nicely with the metal colors.

Awaiting Spring Makeup Tutorial

With the weather being like it has been it's making me crazy for spring!   There are so many amazing spring trends this year.  And one of them is the still going bohemian style.  Add a metallic smokey eye and berry lips and you have your updated 2012 edition.  Read on to get the how to on Tatyana's easy to create look!

To get this look:

Makeup....

MAC eyeshadow in Antiqued all of the lid, crease and lower lash line.
MAC blush in Melba
MAC lipstick in Russian Red "stained" on the lips.  (To stain, apply lipstick with a lip brush and press your lips firmly together.  Blot with a tissue.  Don't use any lipliner.  This will give it a slightly bleeded effect, thus looking stained.)
Red Cherry #747S cut into demi lashes.

Hair....
Tatiana came with her hair in a bun slightly damp.  This caused the hair to have a natural curly look with out ever touching an iron.  She just gave it a little life by scrunching it with her hands right before the shoot.

Valentines Day Inspired Makeup Tutorial

With Valentines Day right around the corner I thought I would create a romantic look with a bold pink lip for you to try.  Bold and bright lips are all the rage for this spring and now is a great time to start implementing this look.  Berries and coral's are especially popular.   The cool toned pink lips really made my blue eyes POP!  Here are the steps and the makeup used:

Eyes:
Urban Decay eyeshadow in Sin (a pale shimmer pink) all over the lid concentrated.  And softly applied up to the brow bone. Also apply this color to the inner tear duct area and inner third of the lower lash line.
Urban Decay eyeshadow in Busted (a dark grey purple) in the outer V and brought down to the lower lash line in the outer third only.
Urban Decay YDK (a high shimer medium toned purple pink) over Urban Decay Busted that you just applied and bring it softly to the middle thrid of the eye.
*All of the Urban Decay eyeshadows are from the Naked 1 and 2 palettes. 
Red Cherry #747M lashes cut in thirds (I have a tutorial coming out on this technique.  But for now do the normal application method of lashes.  To see a tutorial on how to do that here.)
Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara (black)
MAC Superslick Liquid Eyeliner in On the Hunt (darkest black).  Apply this over the strip lash line.

Face: 
Temptu Airbrush foundation in 005 and 006.  Any foundation in your color will do.
MAC Plum Foolery (a warm purpley color with a hint of shimmer) on the cheeks.

Lips:
MAC Beet (a bright red pink) Lip Liner
MAC Girl About Town (a bright pink with a hint of purple) Lipstick
NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss in Beige (soft purple tinted pink), to turn the high voltage pink down a slight notch.

Easy Soft Smokey Look for Brides!

While the guys were watching the Super Bowl downstairs, my girlfriends and I were upstairs playing around with some makeup looks.  This look I did on Kim is perfect for a smokey bridal eye.  It's not over powering or slutty.  Just soft and sultry.  The key to this look for a bride is to do a neutral colored lip to balance out the eye.  Here are the products we used and where so you can recreate this look yourself!  By the way I did the hair too! 

Eyes:
MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist on the lid only, don't go above the crease.
MAC Mulch eyeshadow over the Paint pot
MAC Shroom eyeshadow just on the brow bone. 
*Blend out the line with a blending brush with no color on it.
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrak for the liner
Red Cherry Lashes in 747S

Face:
Make Up Forever HD Foundation in 118
Mary Kay Concealer in Beige 1
MAC Melba blush on cheeks
E.L.F. Cosmetics HD powder to set.

Lips:

Here are picutres from Natasha's Country shoot!  We shot at this great coral in Folsom off of White Rock rd. and I must say, it made these pictures perfect!  Natasha fit the character perfectly and looked amazing!

To get her look:
Apply MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ocre all over the lid and brow bone.
Use MAC Mulch eyeshadow all over the lid and crease and in the lower lash line.
Use black eyeliner only on the upper lid.
Use a rosey blush like in Coastal Scents 10 color blush palette.

This stunning swimsuit model wanted to get some new looks in her portfolio and contacted me to do her makeup.  She was an amazing canvas to work on and so sweet.  We had lots of fun creating a couple of looks for her.  Stay tuned for the Country shoot pictures coming soon!

To get Natasha's Head shot look:

Start by putting Soft Ochre Paint pot by MAC all over the lid and brow bone.

Apply All That Glitters eyeshadow by MAC all over the lid and almost all the way to the brow bone and in around the tear duct.

Use MAC's Carbon eyeshadow in the crease and outer "v" and into the lower lash line.  Blend this out really well to create a smokey look.

Put bronzer just under the cheek bones.  Then add NARS Orgasm Blush to the tops of the cheekbones. 
For the lips we used MAC Subculture lip liner and MAC Cherish lipstick.
Finally add Red Cherry #82 Lashes for drama.

Viola!  She just glowed!  Try this look for yourself!  Good Luck!

Photoshoot Exclusive! Melanie, My Bombshell Bride!

Melanie is not only a bombshell she is a fun loving take life by the horns kind of girl.  I really enjoy spending time with her and had a ton of fun preparing her for the shoot.  For her look I used MAC's Melon pigment on the lid, Swiss Chocolate in the crease, and Carbon in the outer v and to the crease.  On her lips I used MAC's Snob lipstick a blue toned pale pink, and Well Dressed on her Cheeks.  For her lashes I used a very full and dense lash by Red Cherry.  Thank you Melanie for being my sexy bombshell for the day!

The always lovely Lauren posed for me as my sweet bride.  Since her skin is porcelain and her hair very blond, I gave her a sultry but sweet eye using MAC's All that Glitters on the lid, Handwritten in the crease and a touch of Expensive Pink on the center of the eye for some glam.  On her cheeks and lips I went with a bronzey rose to compliment her peaches and cream skin tone.  #1 false eyelashes from Red Cherry completes the look.  Thank you Lauren for doing such an amazing job! 

Video Tutorial - Flower Inspired #1 - Cherry Blossoms

This is the 1st video in a series of Flower Inspired looks.  In this video we use the Cherry Blossom as inspiration.  This look is soft and sweet with some sexiness coming from the full and flirty lashes. 

You will need:
Eye, face, and lip primers
White eyeshadow pencil
Pinky base color
Flesh toned eyeshadow
Shimmery pale pink eyeshadow
Bright pink eyeshadow
Small and Medium eyeshadow brushes
Black eyeliner
False lashes
Blending brush
Pale pink blush
Pale pink lipgloss
Illuminator

Tips:
Use the flesh toned color in the crease only to create a recession in the lid for more depth.
Use a sparkly light pink shadow but make sure it is not too frosty.
Start with a white base to lighten the shadow.
Add a thicker eyeliner line if you are using lashes to hide the lash line.  If you are not using false eyelashes, create a more delicate line of eyeliner.
Pat in a bright satin shade of Pink on the outer V of you eye. 
Keep your cheeks and lips pale to keep with the delicate appearance of the Cherry Blossoms.

Video Tutorial - The Soft Smokey Look

This look is the 2nd video in my 3 part series using the BH Cosmetics 120 Color Palette.  This time I am using Palette #3.  If you don't have this palette, I am telling you right now to go and get it!  It has a lovely combination of neutrals and bright colors in many different finishes.  This and all of the other palettes with BH Cosmetics are the right price and quality to practise and come up with some amazing out of this world looks!

In this tutorial I show you how to achieve a soft version of the smokey eye.  It is a really simple technique and can be used with any of the color combinations in this palette.

You will need:
Eye, Face and Lip primers
Paint Pot in Painterly
Dark satin or shimmery finish eyeshadow
Slightly darker then flesh toned satin eyeshadow
Black eyeliner
Liquid Illuminator
Neutral purple toned blush (to pick up the purple flakes in the dark eyeshadow I used.)
False eyelashes or Volumizing mascara
Purple toned lip liner
Pinky purple lipgloss
Medium eyeshadow brush
Medium fluffy dome brush
Large blending brush

Tips:
When using the darkest color don't over dip your brush.  Take a little bit at a time to avoid over fall out.
When using false eyelashes use a light formula mascara such as Mabelline's Great Lash in blackest black.
If you don't want to use false eyelashes use 3 coats of volumnizing mascara for max drama.
Using the flesh toned color in the crease adds depth without too much added color.
Use the dark eyeshadow on the lower lash line instead of eyeliner
Pat the dark color in instead of pushing the brush around.
Don't put any color on the large blending brush when blending.  Just use this to soften up the look.
Keep you lips light so not to over power the look.
Try this same technique using different shades.

Review - Red Cherry 100% Human Hair Eyelash Strips

When I had read an article that Kim Kardashian and her family only use Red Cherry 100% Human Hair Eyelashes, I immediately hit Google to find out how I can get them.  Have you seen how insanely long their eyelashes are?  And perfect?  Can you tell I am seriously jealous?  They are surprisingly not offered at many stores.  But the best price I found them for was at http://www.madamemadeline.com/.  They were only $1.99 a pair and you got free shipping if you spent $85.  I know that seems like a lot of pairs of eyelashes but for the beautiholic such as myself that's a bargain.  Especially since Red Cherry offers a huge selection to try.  In addition to the already low price of these lashes Madame Madeline sent me 2 free pairs.  What a deal!  Just to give you a comparison MAC offers 100% human hair lashes for around $15 a pair.  Now you understand why I am so excited. Did I mention that Red Cherry's lashes are 100% Human hair and NOT synthetic?  Well that can be a big difference.  Human hair is much lighter and natural feeling then a synthetic lash.   So I placed my order.  Roughly 40 pairs and almost all of them different. 

The shipping was so fast.  Just about 4 days.  I opened up my box and my heart soared.  Ahhhh.  They are gorgeous!  The packaging isn't very attractive, but I don't care.  It's what's inside that counts.  Some of the lashes are really dramatic.  I wouldn't even wear them except for a fashion shoot or for Halloween.  Or if I was a drag queen.  I think some people could pull it off such as the Kardashians, but not me.  There are so many that are appropriate for everyday, for weddings, for a night out.  For those of you that want a little umph.  My favorite for a natural look is the 747M (pictured).  This style also comes in a small and large.  (M is for Medium).  I would recommend a small if you have Asian eyes, small eyes or very little lashes.  Medium for medium length lashes and eyes, and large for you know, large eyes.  I also had a bride that loved the #1 for her big day.  I am amazed at the quality of the lashes for the price.  I would put them up there with MAC's line.  They are easy to apply, light to wear, and very comfortable.  The range of styles is impressive too.  And you can't beat the price.  My vote is 5 lip smacks.  Hands down my new favorite lashes to wear.  Go get yourself a pair or 40.
