Kennie's Doll Spring 2011 Photoshoot

I just got in the mail the CD containing all the amazing photos from the Kennie's Doll Spring 2011 Photo shoot.  We shot in Galt, CA and I have to say out of the 240 images I received, I couldn't narrow it down to just a few.  It was so hard!  They were all amazing!  Here are my favorite shots of each of the girl's and a fun one of me putting on makeup.

I met Joycelynn Brown through an industry website and we hit it right off.  She designed, sewed, and constructed each one of these gorgeous pieces of clothing.  She started as a model and following the footsteps of her late Grandmother, she began to design.  I have to say though, she should definitely keep getting in front of the camera because she is so beautiful!  She wanted the girl's to look fresh faced and natural so that the clothes would stand out.

The photographers were so professional, fun and did an amazing job.  And the models were so sweet, professional, on time, and sooo pretty!  I see a bright future ahead for everyone!

Models:  Amina Jones, Bailey Walker, Katia Luxe, and Amayla Greer.
Designer: Joycelynn Brown of Kennie's Doll

Video Tutorial - Flower Inspired #1 - Cherry Blossoms

This is the 1st video in a series of Flower Inspired looks.  In this video we use the Cherry Blossom as inspiration.  This look is soft and sweet with some sexiness coming from the full and flirty lashes.

You will need:
Eye, face, and lip primers
White eyeshadow pencil
Pinky base color
Flesh toned eyeshadow
Shimmery pale pink eyeshadow
Bright pink eyeshadow
Small and Medium eyeshadow brushes
Black eyeliner
False lashes
Blending brush
Pale pink blush
Pale pink lipgloss
Illuminator

Tips:
Use the flesh toned color in the crease only to create a recession in the lid for more depth.
Use a sparkly light pink shadow but make sure it is not too frosty.
Start with a white base to lighten the shadow.
Add a thicker eyeliner line if you are using lashes to hide the lash line.  If you are not using false eyelashes, create a more delicate line of eyeliner.
Pat in a bright satin shade of Pink on the outer V of you eye.
Keep your cheeks and lips pale to keep with the delicate appearance of the Cherry Blossoms.

Video Tutorial - MAC Class Tutorial and Experience

The MAC at Nordstrom offered a class with their Senior Artist and Regional Trainer the other weekend which seems to be a rare occurance these days.  I can't remember the last time I attended one of these events, but I jump on the chance everytime it's available.  I didn't learn anything cutting edge or really anything I already didn't know, but I like to connect and talk with the trainers and learn more about what new products MAC is offering.  So this video focuses on some of the products that I picked up and a look that they showed us in the class.

Products Used, Day Look:
Prep & Prime Face Protect SPF 50
Painterly Paint Pot
Vanilla Pigment
Large Fluffy Brush MAC 224
Naked Pigment
Deep Purple Eyeliner (I used gel liner from http://www.coastalscents.com/) MAC used the Superslick Liquid Eyeliner in Smokey Heir
Pencil Brush MAC 219
Prep & Prime Highlighter Pen in Bright Forecast (also available in Radiant Rose for fair tones)
MAC Mineralize Cream Foundation (I used NC25)
Large Stipleing Brush MAC 187
Mineralize Blush from Quite Cute line Sakura
Prep & Prime Set Powder
Naked lip liner (I used Subculture)
Lady Gaga 2 Amplified lipstick (I used Freckletone)
Viva Glam 6 lip glass (I used a plum color by NYX in Golden Prune, http://www.cherryculture.com/)

Night Look:
Prunella eyeliner
Satellite Dreams eyeshadow
Soar lip liner
Pro Longwear lipstick in Love Forever

Tips:
Start with less and you can add more later.  It's easier to fix this way!
You don't always have to buy everything from MAC.  If you already have something similar at home then just use that instead.
Make it a night look by adding a plum color and liner to the lower lash line.
When you keep the eyes simple you can easily go from nude lips to bright lips without worrying that it will be too much.
When using the setting powder, a little bit goes a long way.  Try using it with a large fluffy eyeshadow brush instead of a face brush.
